Gray should seek out some different readers. Shelley Shepard Gray is a gifted writer, Tavia Gilbert is, over all, a talented lady.
It's a good book, it does have it's moments, as I mentioned above that I would change if I were directing this performance, but over all, it's worth the credit. If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be? Tavia is very talented, I've listened to her other performances, she just gets too shrill in this one. Maybe pulling back just a little would make it more enjoyable.
